You can play online with this filter if you want to, or don't. Been using a filter since launch of D2R, still not banned. Blizzard likely enforces consistency for files that they don't want modified thus you're limited to what you can do regardless, unless you start injecting into the game.
Installation:
1. Download D2RMM if you don't have it already from here and place it somewhere (follow its instructions)
1. Extract the folder within the archive to your D2RMM mods directory/folder ie: "D2RMM/mods"
2. Install and play via D2RMM
### IF YOU WANT TO PLAY MULTIPLAYER/ONLINE ###
2. Goto D2R on Bnet launcher, click gear icon near "Play", click "Game Settings", check "Additional command line arguments"
3. Add "-mod D2RMM -txt" to the text box below, and click "Done"
4. Click Play within the battle.net launcher
Refer to images for majority of adjustments. Also check posts for further details, especially for the new character save location.
