This adds the fictional 4-4-2 "Lockmann D1" tank engines to the game, a Vctorian era loco suited to shunting and light work

a huge thank you to Matcat for giving me this stunning locomotive to implement!

Loco comes in 3 liveries- NMR Nougat (DVRT), NMR Green (DVRT New), and WMR Crimson (Demo New)

NOTES:

• []As was common for British engines, this locomotive does not have electricity.[/]

  []the "Mechanical Lubricator" can be found on the front of the locomotive, to the left when looking towards the loco, it is the brass fitting on the smokebox with the gauge. check gallery for an image of the location! [/]

  []Following British pratice, there is no blowdown in the cab, a fictional valve has been added to the left hand side, between the two driving wheels.[/]

  Mat’s Corner:

  My name is Matcat, and I’m the designer of this fictional late 1900th century steam locomotive! It’s by far one of, if not my favourite era of steam to study and build new ideas around, and these, the D1 “Longshot” tanks, are a personal love-letter of mine to the ideas and practices that I find so endearing and fascinating to the more suburban-traffic oriented tank engines of the era. The locomotive is of course fictional, and try as I might, absolute realism (or verisimilitude) is close to unachievable. Nevertheless, I hope you’ll be able to appreciate the effort that has gone into making this engine all that it could be, and even more so, that you’ll have a fun time with it in the valley.   History:

  Built in 1882, the D1 class were "Atlantic" type tank engines designed by Henry Louie Lockmann (1824-1918) at the peak of his career, for suburban passenger- and light freight work on the Noonstead & Masson Railway, as well as this network’s particularly difficult Marcano Island branch, focusing on weight- and size-limitations needed.

  With their great acceleration and an impressive average top speed of around 60 to 70 mph, especially when doing their intended light suburban work, they did sometimes tend to excite and/or fool less experienced crews on the footplate, causing them to misjudge stopping distances and overshoot platforms. This eventually gave them the well-earned name “Longshot” tanks.
