This freight car was widely used for coal transport in Japan's Hokkaido region. Historically, it is famous for trains carrying up to 2,400 tons (SEKI 3000*50) having been operated. These trains ran on routes composed of gentle downhill gradients and flat terrain, pulled by just a single steam locomotive. While limited to specific routes, this is exceptional when compared to modern 21st-century Japanese freight trains, which rarely exceed 1,300 tons.

In DV, the mass per car length is lighter than vanilla freight cars, making it easier to form longer trains. However, note that rolling resistance is relatively higher. Enjoy a slightly different train landscape than vanilla.
