Gauges for Air Brake

Overview

Gauges for Air Brake (GAB) is a skin pack for SuperGauges that replaces/updates the brake gauge textures to include labels for the needles (brake pipe & cylinder and main & equalizing reservoir labels) and numbering to accurately read out the current air pressures when using the Air Brake mod.

  []Modification of vanilla gauges - updated brake gauges look exactly the same as the vanilla gauges, except for the updated labels and numbers.

  []Other gauges are untouched - only the brake gauges are changed.

  The brake pipe & cylinder and main & equalizing reservoirs gauges all have the same labels because, for some reason, both these gauges use the same texture (even though the DE6 gauge texture file has two separate gauges like the DE2 does???), so I elected to use the following labeling scheme for the needles:

  • []Red - Brake Cyl. / Main Res.

    []Blk - Brake Pipe / Eq. Res.

    Gauge Accuracy

    The accuracy of the gauges aren't 100% perfect (this is best seen in the DE2 gauges picture). The gauge reading may deviate from the actual air pressure by . 1 - . 2 bar at most, so it's not inaccurate to the point where it's not useful at all, but if you require absolute accuracy, I recommend you use the Heads-up Display mod.

    Red/Black vs. Long/Short

    For the DE2 and SH282 only, this mod provides two skins for the gauges. Prior to Air Brake v0. 6. 1, there's an issue where both needles on the reservoirs gauge are black (instead of one being red and the other being black). However, on these gauges, the equalizing reservoir needle is longer than the main reservoir needle, so they have an optional alternative label that distinguishes the two needles with "LONG" and "SHORT" instead of "RED" and "BLACK".

    When selecting your skin in the SuperGauges options, the DE2 and SH282 will have two choices from this mod:

    • [] AirBrake

    • AirBrakeLongShortRes

      AirBrake labels the main and equalizing reservoir needles as red and black, respectively. You can use this if you prefer, or if the underlying issue is fixed in Air Brake in the future.

      AirBrakeLongShortRes labels the main and equalizing reservoir needles as short and long, respectively. You can use this if you want accuracy that reflects what the Air Brake mod is actually doing.

      Both options label the brake cylinder and pipe needles as red and black, as the needle colors for that gauge are showing as intended.

      There is not a long/short option like the DE2 and SH282 have, sorry.
