British Rail Steel Flats

This mod is a pack of British Rail bogie steel wagons. Currently it includes the 40ft BAA and 2 derived designs.

BAA Steel Flat

Over 300 of these 40ft wagons were built between 1972 and 1976 at Ashford works in five batches, each having different designs of the end baulkhead. They were very successful wagons, carrying mostly steel slabs and coils from the huge steelworks around Teeside and South Wales and are still in service today. 3 of the end bulkhead variations are included, named BAA-1, BAA-2, and BAA-3. Can carry Steel Billets, Steel Slabs, Steel Bent Plates, and Steel Rolls.

BZA Coil Carrier

Some BAA wagons were pooled into dedicated coil traffic, and were modified to load coils upright with wedge-shaped cradles. In 1992, wagons fitted with these were reclassified as BZAs under TOPS. This model includes the same batch variations as the BAA. It can be loaded with Steel Rolls, with two sizes of coils.

BCA Coil Cradle

In 1994, some BAAs were converted into BCA wagons to further improve coil loading. Their decks and bulkheads were removed and much larger coil cradles were built in their place. Carries Steel Rolls.

This mod features realistic custom handbrakes and brake cylinder release valves. Look for the small white handle under the white star on the frame solebar.
