ALCO FPD-4

An ALCO DL-500 "World Unit", primarily based on the RENFE 316 class. Sorry, single cab only for now.

A healthy all-rounder, except for the fact you can't really see behind you. Reasonably powerful, reasonably quick, reasonably compact. Reasonable. Ish.

Features custom sounds, a complete interior, the normal DVRT/DVRT_NEW/Primer/DEMO/DEMO_RUSTY roster, changeable in Sandbox or with Locomotive Ownership.

This unit features two controls that are not featured in basegame equipment.

Isolation Switch: This is a rotary switch located on the front of the engine room firewall. It controls engine Start/Stop/Maximum power.

To start locomotive:

1. Close knife switch, and close all breakers on control stand.

2. Place Isolation Switch into the IDLE position. Start engine.

3. Move to desired max engine notch. This will almost always be RUN.

To shut down locomotive, move the Isolation Switch to OFF. The control stand also features a STOP button, but the low oil pressure alarm will ring until the Isolation Switch is moved to OFF.

Engine is isolated in IDLE and will not load. Move to 2/4/6 or RUN to enable loading.

Selector Lever: This is a second handle that controls motor transition and dynamic braking. Note that your Dynamics Up key will advance transition, and Dynamics Down will move it past OFF and then into the dynamics range; effectively your dynamics key are reversed.

To motor, make sure your Isolation Switch is above IDLE and place the selector into 1. Forward transition is optional; the engine will simply unload at higher speeds.

To dynamic brake, close throttle and move selector lever forwards past OFF into the braking range.

Move handle as follows, for motoring:

1-2 at 40kmh

2-3 at 60kmh

3-4 at 80kmh

Make sure to back transition, especially back from 4th, or you'll pop the breaker otherwise.

Note that you cannot move the throttle with the selector handle in OFF!
