How To Mod Sound Effects In Demon's Souls

The sound files are located in USRDIR/sound. The ones you want to be looking at are the "se" .mowb files. If you open them in HXD you can see that they are a type of .bnd file.

In this example I will demonstrate how to mute Menu(Confirm) in ds_se_main.mowb

• []Backup ds_se_main.mowb

  []Rename ds_se_main.mowb to ds_se_main.bnd

  []Open ds_se_main.bnd with DeS-BNDBuild and extract its contents. The files will be extracted to ds_se_main.bnd.extract. There you will be confronted with many files of the filetype . VAGp, You will not be able to play them in this state.

  []You have to rename the files, right click anywhere in the folder and open command prompt

  []input ren . VAGp .vag

  • []Now you can use foobar2000 to listen to the .vag audio files. After spending time listening you will learn that file number 38 is Menu(Confirm)

  []Delete the original 38.vag and replace it with a blank file(I used file 121.vag from the same folder)

  • []Now that you've finished the replacement, open command prompt again and rename all the .vag files back to . VAGp

  []input ren .vag . VAGp

• []Now go back to the DeS_BNDBuild window and click "Rebuild". ds_se_main.bnd will be rebuilt.

  []Rename ds_se_main.bnd back to ds_se_main.mowb.

  []Done.

  That was an example of muting one sound, of course you can mute any sound in the game, but you will have to listen carefully to all the sounds to pinpoint the one you want.

  How To Mod Music Tracks In Demon's Souls
