Unlock Conduit Rooms on PC

Conduit rooms are special areas in Dead Space 2 accessible only to Xbox 360 and PS3 players who had a savegame file from Dead Space: Ignition. There are 4 rooms throughout the game and each contained various loot as well as exclusive audio and text logs left behind by Franco Delille, as well as a special suit (Hacker Suit) and a unique Hacker-skinned Contact Beam that could be unlocked only by having a save file from Dead Space: Ignition.

For PC players these rooms were doomed to be sealed off forever since Dead Space: Ignition was never released on PC.

You must start a New Game or New Game Plus, otherwise, this mod won't work.

If you install this mod while already having a save file, even if you saved it near a Conduit Room, it still won't be unlocked.

Installation

Download the mod

Go to the Dead Space 2 install folder, for example:  "x:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\deadspace2\"

Depending on your game version, you may need to do some file shuffling to make this mod work.

!!! !!! DO NOT OVERWRITE "DS2DAT0. DAT" !!! !!!

If you have a DS2DAT0. DAT, you'll need to rename all existing DS2DAT#. DAT to one number higher.

DS2DAT0. DAT -> DS2DAT1. DAT

DS2DAT1. DAT -> DS2DAT2. DAT

DS2DAT2. DAT -> DS2DAT3. DAT

DS2DAT3. DAT -> DS2DAT4. DAT

DS2DAT4. DAT -> DS2DAT5. DAT

If the files for your game start at DS2DAT0. DAT, DS2DAT1. DAT and then immediately skips to DS2DAT6. DAT, DS2DAT7. DAT, and so on, you can try to rename only the first two files, 0 and 1, to 1 and 2 respectively.

After renaming the files, place DS2DAT0_CONDUIT4PC. DAT in the Dead Space 2 folder and rename it to DS2DAT0. DAT.

Play the game.

Locations in the game:

• []The first room is located in Chapter 1: Where Am I?. When Isaac is in the elevator that opened into the room with the balloons, turn to the left. The conduit room is at the end of that hallway. This conduit room contained an audio log left by Franco.

• []The second room is located in Chapter 2: I Need Transportation. When you walked into the hallway where the shuttle exploded outside the window, walk down to the end of the hallway until you see a door that said "conduit room" above it. It contained the Hacker Suit schematic and various loot.

• []The third conduit room is found during Chapter 4: Going To Church, located in the church of Unitology. It is found in the Funerary Wing in the first door on the left. This room is accessible after the first encounter with the Stalkers.

• []The final conduit room is found during Chapter 9: Transportation Preparation, located in the area where you went up to reactivate the tram to the Government Sector. It is located off to the left, about halfway up, just before where the Crawlers are crawling down the wall. The unique Hacker-skinned Contact Beam can be found here.
