📋 About This Mod
ASI's are C++ DLL's renamed to ASI format so they can be recognized by the ASI loader.
An ASI Loader is a lightweight proxy DLL used in modding to inject and load custom .asi plugins (renamed DLLs) into a game's process at runtime. This enables mods like trainers, graphics enhancements, script extensions, and fixes without modifying vanilla game files. Most games used this kind of method, most notably the GTA Series, which also has their own modloader which also a renamed . DLL mod into . ASI format. It's an easier mod loading method without having to rely on DLL chaining so you can have many . DLL mods at the same time.
From thehambone on GTAForums;
ASI mods originated through an exploit in GTA III's and GTA Vice City's sound system. These games use the Miles Sound System for audio. Some files that go along with this library contain the .asi extension. Here you can see a file named Mp3dec.asi in the 'mss' folder in GTA III game directory.
Long ago, somebody whose name has probably been lost to time discovered that the Miles Sound System will load any file with an .asi extension like a DLL and "hook" it into the game as it launches. Since GTA III and VC use the Miles Sound System, no "ASI Loader" is needed to use ASI mods -- simply drop the file into the game root or the 'mss' directory and launch the game. When SA came around, Rockstar stopped using the Miles Sound System, so clever modders had to find another way to hook into the game.
In my experience changing the . DLL format to . ASI actually made it easier for . DLL mod installation, I can have many d3d9.dll mods at the sametime. I use DSFix, FPSFixPlus (Bonfire 60fps input bug fixer), and PVP Watchdog, all renamed to . ASI format.

[]I tested DSFix and it actually loaded since i can see it gives me a .log file and also i can screenshot and switch HUD modification on or off in-game (It has to be in the Root folder where .exe game is located, since i think the DSFIX folder which where the texture replacing folder is located, is designed to be loaded from Root. Latter mods works in plugin, scripts, or update folder).
[
]PVP Watchdog also working, if i use older non-Steam PTDE, it would give an error about not using older version of the game and suspend the process, and enter the game without it being activated.[]FPSFix+ also working fine though i prefer play the game in 30fps as i have a low-end system
I posted it here in case anyone didnt know this method actually exist and are having a hardtime chaining all the .dll mods.
