South Korea: Facilities and Units

Details can be found in the scenario description and side briefing. The information is too long to be fit inside of a workshop item description. Notes: 1. Information are mostly acquired from the Korean namuwiki, F-16.net, aviation safety network crash reports, Orbats, and various other news sources. 2. The distribution and number of KF-16s in Fighter Wing units are pretty well documented by F-16.net. By subtracting from the supposedly total KF-16s the Airforce has leaves the 159th FRS in the 39th Wing with 19/10 KF-16C/D, which is an unusually high number for a single squadron. It is more likely that Some KF-16s are handed out to training units e.g. the 191st TTS. But for simplicity sake I gave them all to the 159th 3. For most aircraft models (e.g. KF-5s, F-15s, and F-35s), the division of aircraft between units isn’t clear so I guesstimated by dividing them equally and then considering crashes that each unit had. 4. The 105th FS of the 18th Wing is going to be replaced by 20 KF-21s by 2027. I guesstimated that it has ~(9/7) of KF-5E/F models before this replacement happens. Both units are present in the Airbase so you can model the KAF in both 2025/2027+ scenarios. 5. Operational ratios are set by the published ratio by the Korean government of ~75% for most squadrons and the 11th FW operating F-15Ks having an 80% operational rate. 6. The aerobatics team operating T-50Bs are not modelled 7. The RC-800G IMINT, RC-800B ELINT, and Falcon 2000LXS Baekdu-II ISR aircraft operated by the KAF nor equivalents are modelled in the CMO database 8. The RQ-105K/KUS-FS UAV in production is not modelled by the CMO database 9. Some aircraft models (especially transports) do not have Korean versions in the database, so I substituted using models of other countries 10. Information regarding the air defence brigades are very scarce except for the belonging of the patriot batteries. I divided the known battery count by the areas’ relative importance (with brigades facing NK armed wit
