Exercise Quokka '80

The early 1980’s represented the golden sunset of Australian fixed wing Naval Aviation with HMAS Melbourne decommissioned in 1982. While small by the standards of those of us used to playing with USN Supercarriers, the eight Skyhawks, six Trackers and 10 Sea Kings are nothing to sneeze at when Melbourne was one of the largest warships in the Southern Hemisphere. This scenario represents a fun ‘what if”, where you command Melbourne as part of a Task Group with an embarked air wing against the Musorian Armed Forces (Played by the RAAF and RAN Patrol and Submarine Forces). In Exercise Quokka 80, this scenario sees you in command of Melbourne’s Task group and air wing with a goal of destroying the Musorian military operating out of RAAF Learmonth
