The Battle of Mitú, 1995

This scenario assumes that violence from the FARC conflict with Colombia has spilled over into Brazil. Brazilian citizens have been kidnapped and killed. Among other crimes, FARC is blamed for the brutal murders of a Brazilian police captain and his family. FARC currently occupies the Colombian town of Mitú, close to the Colombia-Brazilian border. Brazil has decided to raid this FARC stronghold. This scenario presumes a "best case scenario" for the FARC guerillas, who were believed to have captured a few 81-mm mortars from the Colombian army and who were also believed to have gained possession of a few man-portable surface-to-air missiles. It also assumes FARC was successful in negotiating the purchase of additional heavy weapons from arms dealers. ------------------------------------------------------- A delta template .ini file has been included in the .zip file to assist in updating the scenario to any future versions of the database.
