Task Force 45, 1989

This scenario assumes that, in 1989, the Soviet Union, although facing severe economic difficulties, made some efforts to support some of the remaining communist regimes around the world. In this scenario, a Soviet convoy with military aid is on its way to Nicaragua. The United States does not want that mission to succeed. At the present time, the only vessels available to conduct this mission is a surface action group, now operating under the designation Task Force 45. (The task force number is derived from the vessels being currently deployed as part of the United States Southern Command, a component of which is the United States Fourth Fleet.) While the Fourth Fleet itself was not reactivated until 2008, it is presumed that for the sake of convenience Southern Command naval task forces during this period were numbered between 40 and 49. ------------------------------------------------------- A delta template .ini file has been included in the .zip file to assist in updating the scenario to any future versions of the database.
