STANAVFORLANT Gets to Work, 1969

This scenaro assumes that in the late 1960s the Soviet Union has become more aggressive in promoting the interests of its client states around the world. Reliable intelligence exists that equipment necessary for chemical and biological weapons is being moved from the Soviet Union to Iraq. The United States has warned the Soviet Union that this is intolerable and, at first, the Soviet Union appeared to agree. Intelligence reveals the Soviets plan to use the cover of an Antarctic mission to move their ships around Africa to avoid NATO forces in the Mediterranean. If necessary, the ships can stop at friendly African ports. However, new intelligence reveals that a Russian task force headed for the Atlantic is centered around cargo and science vessels carrying equipment that will help Iraq develop a biological weapons program. The main NATO vessels in the area are the ships of STANAVFORLANT. ------------------------------------------------------- One special action is available. If you wish to do so, you may add S 102 Valiant, a British nuclear attack submarine, to your forces. A delta template .ini file has been included in the .zip file to assist in updating the scenario to any future versions of the database. Scenario Author: Mark Gellis
