Mexican Fishery Conflict, 2017

Mexico's navy is not primarily designed for power projection, but rather to defend its long coastline and its large exclusive economic zone (EEZ). Along with fighting organized crime, the Mexcian navy is concerned with protecting their nation's fisheries and fishing fleet. This scenario assumes that Guatemalan fishing boats have been violating Mexcian fisheries. The crews of these fishing boats have started to take matters into their own hands, ramming other boats and occasionally firing shots from pistols and rifles (not to mention the occasional black market machine gun). Both Mexico and Guatemala have deployed patrol vessels to the area to keep the peace. --------------------------------------------------------------- One way to model boarding operations in Command is to bring the vessel conducting the boarding operation to within a couple of hundred yards of the ship being boarded. Then, the player must keep the two ships within that range for a certain amount of time (e.g., 30 minutes). The player will receive a message letting them know if and when the ship has been successfully boarded. While the Guatemalan EMB-314/A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft is not currently in the Command database, it is assumed that one of the versions used by other countries can be substituted. According to the SIPRI Arms Transfer Database, Mexico has about 30 SA-18 missiles in its inventory.
