Mesa Verde Meets 'Em Head On, 2024

This scenario assumes that the United States has withdrawn to an extent from its role as "policeman of the world." Instead, the United States has helped develop a number of allied commands to deal with regional crises. South Atlantic Naval Force (SOLANTNAVFOR), the principal miltiary arm of the Allied South Atlantic Command (ALSOLANTCOM) is currently on patrol off the coast of West Africa. The Republic of the Congo has become increasingly hostile to the West and is now believed to be sponsoring terrorist activities in Europe and elsewhere. SOLANTNAVFOR has been given the responsibility of "showing the flag," but is also on watch for any targets of opportunity. The Republic of the Congo has been involved in a border dispute with Gabon in the last few years, and some of its soldiers are accused of having committed war crimes. The United Nations has attempted to broker a cease-fire, but has been rebuffed. The United States and its allies believe this represents sufficient justification for limited "show of force" strikes that it is hoped will finally bring the Republic of the Congo to the bargaining table. ------------------------------------------------------- A delta template .ini file has been included in the .zip file to assist in updating the scenario to any future versions of the database.
