Indonesian War - 1 - Convoy Lion, 1995

This scenario assumes that in the 1990s Indonesia became increasingly aggressive about protecting its territorial rights, hunting down rebels in various provinces, and so on. Its occupation of Timor has been marked by increasing reports of violence and oppression. This includes an effective blockade of the island, which has led to shortages of food and medicine. On April 6, 1995, the United Nations is assumed to have passed a resolution "deploring the harsh and inhumane treatment" of those living on the island and encouraging members of the international community to take appropriate action "to relieve the suffering of the civilian population." Indonesia has responded by stating that attempts to enter its territorial waters without permission will be treated as an act of war. On April 11, 1995, the British Parliament is assumed to have voted to support "all reasonable efforts including the use of force to compel Indonesia to allow humanitarian aid to reach Timor." The Australian government passed a similar measure the same day and Australia has been given operational control of the mission, OPERATION SMOKE ORANGE. A hastily organized convoy escorted by British and Australian naval units is now en route to the island of Timor. ------------------------------------------------------- A delta template .ini file has been included in the .zip file to assist in updating the scenario to any future versions of the database.
