Gulf of Mannar Confrontation, 1962

This scenario assumes that the attempted coup that took place in Sri Lanka in 1962 was successful. The result of this coup was to put a more pro-Western government. However, supporters of the former Sri Lankan government have launched a rebellion, which has been receiving covert aid from both India and the Soviet Union. The United Kingdom has moved forces into the area to make a show of force in support of the new pro-Western government. They will also assist Sri Lanka in operations against rebel forces. The weather at the moment makes all operations difficult. In addition, it is not clear if the Soviet Union will try to intervene. ------------------------------------------------------- A delta template .ini file has been included in the .zip file to assist in updating the scenario to any future versions of the database.
