Corvette Group off Bressay, 2022

This scenario assumes the United Kingdom has dramatically alters its relationship with the European Union and that Europe suffers a major economic crisis around 2020. Many Europeans blame the crisis on the U. K. and international tensions in Europe are at levels not seen since the end of the Cold War. In the last year alone, Norway and the United Kingdom have become embroiled in three separate disputes over the use of the North Sea. The situation has worsened after a major storm in the North Sea results in the loss of several fishing boats, including a number of Norwegian vessels. Norway has blamed the United Kingdom for not doing more to help rescue the crews of these vessels. This tragic situation has turned dangerous due to the inflamatory remarks made a few days after the storm on a British radio broadcast. The United Kingdom suspects that a Norweigan surface action group is headed for the Shetland Islands. Its intentions appear to be to conduct some kind of punitive strike; the radio station on Bressay, from which the anti-Norwegian remarks were broadcast, is a very likely target. Although a raid of this nature does not represent a serious threat to the United Kingdom, it does constitute a serious threat to the lives and property of the people living on Bressay, and the British government has no intention of allowing it to take place. ------------------------------------------------------- A delta template .ini file has been included in the .zip file to assist in updating the scenario to any future versions of the database.
