Birmingham Strikes, 1992

In the 1990s, Sierra Leone suffered through a brutal civil war that resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people. The rebels, known as the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) were infamous because of the atrocities they committed. The war was eventually brought to a close when the United Kingdom intervened in 2000. This scenario presents a fictional mission that might have been undertaken by the United Kingdom against the RUF early in the conflict. In the historical conflict, the RUF did capture a large number of weapons from Sierra Leone (and later from some of the UN peacekeepers dispatched to the area) and countries such as Libya also supplied the RUF with additional weapons. When designing the RUF forces for this scenario, I relied mostly on available historical information, but provided the rebels with a few additional Libyan weapons to make them a bit more of a challenge. ------------------------------------------------------- A delta template .ini file has been included in the .zip file to assist in updating the scenario to any future versions of the database.
