April Storm - 1 - The New Eastern Front, 1996

The April Storm campaign assumes that Boris Yeltsin was removed from power in late 1995. His replacement, a former general in the Red Army, has set an aggressive tone for the new Russia. In the first week of April, 1996, Russia and Belarus invaded parts of eastern Poland. Various reasons, including the large ethnic Ukranian population in this region of Poland, have been offered as justification for the invasion. Russia has not attempted to move troops further west, but about one quarter of Poland is now under Russian control. The United Nations has been unable to effect any change. There has been general condemnation of Russia, but its position on the Security Council means it can veto any resolutions that would authorize the use of force against it. NATO has warned Russia that the current situation is intolerable and that it must withdraw from Poland or face serious consequences. ------------------------------------------------------- A delta template .ini file has been included in the .zip file to assist in updating the scenario to any future versions of the database.
