Andaman Sea Clash, 2005

In 2004, tensions between Thailand and Myanmar increased. During the summer of that year, a Thai fishing boat was sunk by a Burmese patrol boat. This scenario assumes that even months later tensions have remained high and that Thailand has started to conduct regular patrols in the Andaman Sea to protect Thai fishing boats. Myanmar has not protested this action, but has made it clear that it will not tolerate Thai fishing boats violating its territorial waters or its protected fisheries. ------------------------------------------------------- The action in the scenario depends, in part, on whether or not the Thai fishing boats, which the player does not control, violate Burmese territorial waters before they are intercepted by Thai naval vessels. For this reason, the scenario may proceed very differently each time it is played. At the time the scenario was created, the Burmese F-7M was not available in the DB3000. The Bangladeshi F-7M, effectively the same aircraft, has been used in its place. Flying between U Tapao (where the aircraft in this scenario are normally based) and the operations area in the Andaman Sea is difficult because of the no-fly zone over Burmese territory. You are very likely to run out of fuel if you try to do this. It is strongly recommended that aircraft are moved or assigned to Surat Thani for the duration of the scenario as soon as possible. A delta template .ini file has been included in the .zip file to assist in updating the scenario to any future versions of the database. Scenario Author: Mark Gellis
