Make restoring classic cars a real challenge

RealShop adds more realism to Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 by changing how parts for older vehicles are obtained.

In real life, buying a brand-new body panel or engine component for a car built decades ago is rarely simple. With RealShop, many parts for vehicles manufactured before 2005 are no longer available in the regular shop. To complete a restoration, you will need to search junkyards, barns, and auctions, then repair the parts you find.

The mod is still being developed, but its core gameplay is already available. Restoring a retro car now requires more planning, exploration, and risk—and every rare discovery matters.

Important: changes introduced in v0. 3. 4

Starting with version 0. 3. 4, RealShop is designed to work from the beginning of a new save. The mod unlocks the Junkyard, Auction, and repair systems earlier, so you no longer need to wait for the full repair branch to become available.

Repair is now a high-stakes part of every restoration. Heavily damaged red parts can be repaired, but any failed repair attempt permanently destroys the part—even if it was already in good condition. Improving a rare part from “good enough” to perfect condition is therefore a meaningful risk.

Key features

- Junkyards, barns, and auctions play a much greater role in vehicle restoration.

- Many parts for vehicles manufactured before 2005 are removed from the regular shop catalog.

- Access to selected Auction features and the car dealership can be restricted.

- All body and interior parts can be repaired.

- The Junkyard and Auction are available from map level 1.

- Travel to the Junkyard and Auction is free.

- Junkyard vehicle spawns can be filtered by year with `RemoveCarsOlderThanYear`.

- With the default value of `2005`, only vehicles older than 2005 can appear in the Junkyard.

- Red, heavily damaged parts can be repaired.

- A failed repair attempt immediately and permanently destroys the affected part.

- Fully repaired parts are hidden from the repair-table list.

- All repairable parts are available from repair level 1; the Restorer skill tree is no longer required.

- BMW DLC support is included, with its cars and engines assigned to the appropriate categories.

## Configuration

The configuration file lets you customize the RealShop experience.

### Shop and vehicle settings

- Change the year threshold used to remove older-vehicle parts from the shop.

- Add or remove specific vehicle brands from the shop exclusion list.

- Maintain a list of older engines and parts that are no longer sold, including examples such as `(I3)`, `(I6 B)`, `(V8)`, and `(V8 OHV)`.

- Add missing or hidden items to the whitelist so they remain visible in the shop.

- Enable or disable access to the shop.

- Enable or disable the auction that offers higher-quality vehicles.

- Customize the key used to enable or disable the mod.

### Part-price settings

Part prices can be adjusted by vehicle era and category:

> Important: Replace the old configuration file when updating the mod. New releases may add or reorganize settings and part categories.

## Installation

### Requirements

- Car Mechanic Simulator 2021

- MelonLoader 0. 5. 7

- `realshop.dll`

1. Download `realshop.dll`.

2. Download and install MelonLoader version 0. 5. 7.

3. Remove files from any previous RealShop installation.

4. Copy `realshop.dll` to:

{STEAM_PATH}\Car Mechanic Simulator 2021\Mods

5. When updating, replace the old RealShop configuration file with the new one.
