VR Max Graphics ini

A tweaked ini file for powerful PCs that turns on hidden graphics settings, increases the framerate cap, and increases some default effect resolutions. STEAM

And it looks damn good doing it.

I looked around for some ini tweaks and graphics replacers. But, the ini tweaks I found broke some textures in amazing and horrible ways, and the graphics replacer was worse than what the game can already do with the right tweaks. Maybe I did it wrong but with this one file I got it to look just about as good as it can in VR.

INSTALLATION

Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2 VR\Engine\Config

0: Start your game once and turn the video settings all to their max, since a some settings aren't stored in the ini (esp scoped framerate)

1: Rename your copy of BaseEngine ini file, as a backup

2: Paste my BaseEngine ini file

OPTIONAL :: HMD SPECIFIC MAX-FRAMERATE

I have the framerate set to 90 because that's what my HMD runs at but you can edit the ini yourself with Notepad by searching and changing the line

MaxSmoothedFrameRate=90

to a number other than 90.

OPTIONAL :: BETTER WORLD SCALE (and other steam options)

Don't forget, you can change settings within steam vr too. In particular, I set the World Scale to 131% by going to the steam vr options menu -> video -> per application video settings, and flipping the custom world scale toggle. Every native VR game gets world scale a little wrong, imo.

OPTIONAL :: INDEX USERS CONTROLS (and grenade button)

The controls for the index controllers is non-native, not built into the game at all.

You need to go into the SteamVR Settings -> Controllers -> Manage Controller Bindings

1) Toggle Custom Bindings

2) Change Bindings to "fixed binding for index"

3) ADD GRENADE by editing the bind -> Add a click to the B Button -> Make the click Right Application Menu Button

This is probably not the best it can get to, tweak at your own risk. For example, there were a whole list of LOD numbers I didn't touch but could probably be doubled. And, I couldn't do anything about the scoped framerate other than setting it in game, so it's pretty bad.

Don't Change :: bUseMaxQualityMode=False (It's a trap. I think the game is missing textures for it.)
