Meaningful Loot is for players who want more time enjoying Borderlands 2 and less time staring at a carpet of loot, wondering what is worth picking up.

It gives you separate control over how much eligible gear appears and how good that gear tends to be. The defaults combine a 10% Gear Drop Multiplier with 75% Minimum Gear Quality for a less loot, better gear style of play: far fewer ordinary items demand your attention, while the ones that remain are more likely to be worth a look.

Make it your own

• []Less loot, better gear: use the default 10% Gear Drop Multiplier and 75% Minimum Gear Quality.[/]

  []The usual amount, with better quality: set Gear Drop Multiplier to 100% and raise Minimum Gear Quality to taste.[/]

  []A tougher hunt for upgrades: lower Gear Drop Multiplier and leave Minimum Gear Quality at 0%.[/]

  The two settings work independently, so you can use either on its own or mix them however you like. Minimum Gear Quality follows the game's normal quality progression; 75% is a position within the supported quality range, not a 75% damage bonus or a chance of a Legendary. It does not manufacture extra Legendary drops.

  Loot, shops and rewards

  • []Fewer ordinary drops. Eligible generated gear follows your chosen Gear Drop Multiplier. Protected rewards and shop exceptions mean the percentage is not an exact count for every encounter.[/]

    []Progress that carries over. Progress towards ordinary enemy drops is remembered across enemies, maps and full game restarts, so changing areas does not keep resetting it.[/]

    []Chests follow your settings too. At low quantity settings, a chest can contain less ordinary gear or none at all. The mod does not add an extra ordinary item to make up for what it removed.[/]

    []Quicker shop visits. Ordinary vendor stock follows your quantity setting, while the Featured / Item of the Day is preserved. At the default 10%, shops usually have a much shorter gear list, often centred on that featured item. Non-gear supplies and the normal refresh schedule are unchanged.[/]

    []Special rewards are protected. Unique, specially authored and other protected gear is preserved, including special mission rewards. Ordinary randomly generated mission gear can still follow your quantity setting.[/]

    []Everyday supplies are left alone. Money, ammo, health and other non-gear pickups are unaffected.[/]

    Gear the game knows how to make. Quality improvements use the game's supported gear families and normal item generation.

    Relics keep their purpose. Supported ordinary relics can receive quality improvements while retaining the effects that define them. Special and unrecognised relic parts are protected.

      Installation

      • []Close the game and install the current Willow2 Mod Manager / PythonSDK. Choose willow2-sdk.zip and follow the official SDK installation guide.[/]

        []Download Meaningful Loot for Borderlands 2 and unzip the Nexus download once.[/]

        []Place MeaningfulLoot.sdkmod directly inside the sdk_mods folder in your game's main installation folder. Do not extract MeaningfulLoot.sdkmod itself.[/]

        []Launch the game. Meaningful Loot starts enabled on a fresh install. Updating keeps your settings, including whether you previously switched the mod off.[/]

        []Open the SDK MODS menu and select Meaningful Loot to adjust the settings.[/]

        Updating from an older version? Replace your existing MeaningfulLoot.sdkmod with the new one. If you also have an old extracted MeaningfulLoot code folder, move it out of sdk_mods so only one copy
