Vanilla Plus (For BB Enhanced)

Bloodborne: Vanilla+ requires Bloodborne Enhanced.

Vanilla+ is built directly upon the excellent foundation of Bloodborne Enhanced and will not function correctly without it installed.

The goal of Vanilla+ is to take many of the quality-of-life features provided by Bloodborne Enhanced and integrate them into the game in a way that feels more natural to Bloodborne's original progression. Rather than having every convenience immediately available from the beginning, many features must now be discovered, purchased, or unlocked naturally as you progress through the game.

For example, leveling at Lamps becomes available only after the Hunter has gained Insight and first spoken with the awakened Doll, preserving the point at which leveling is unlocked in the original game. Fast travel is similarly unlocked upon reaching Cathedral Ward, while access to the Messenger Shops from Lamps is earned through new badges purchased during the playthrough.

Vanilla+ also restores and repurposes a small amount of cut or unused Bloodborne content where it can make these additions feel more at home in Yharnam. Primarily, this is focused on Bloodborne Enhanced's respec feature. In Vanilla+, you must return to Iosefka's Clinic and speak with the Blood Minister if you wish to respec your character. Some of his cut dialogue has also been restored and repurposed to make the respec system feel as though it could have belonged in the vanilla game.

The intention is not to redefine or rebalance Bloodborne, but to provide another way to experience the original game: retaining its progression, atmosphere and identity while making the journey through Yharnam a little more convenient.

Bloodborne Enhanced is required. Full credit goes to Bloodborne Enhanced for the framework and the underlying QoL features that made Vanilla+ possible.

Installation instructions

Install Bloodborne Enhanced as you normally would.

After installing Bloodborne Enhanced, copy the dvdroot_ps4 folder folder included with Vanilla+ into the same location as your Bloodborne Enhanced installation and overwrite files when prompted.

I strongly recommend making a backup of your current Bloodborne Enhanced installation before overwriting anything, just in case you decide to revert to Enhanced without Vanilla+ later.

Required: Make sure you enable the "performance patch (perf increase)" patch in the shadps4 patchlist. The mod will crash in the clinic otherwise.

Vanilla+ was developed and tested using Bloodborne Enhanced v0. 11. 2-fix10. It should work with newer releases of Bloodborne Enhanced, but compatibility with future versions cannot be guaranteed.   EDIT (9/14/26): v0. 11. 2-fix10 is still the recommended version of Bloodborne Enhanced. Newer versions seem to be hit or miss, so if you are experiencing crashes—particularly when transitioning between areas—please use the recommended version of Bloodborne Enhanced.

IF YOU WANT TO PLAY WITH BB PC REMASTER

PLEASE READ THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BELOW CAREFULLY

Vanilla+ is compatible with BB PC Remaster, but you must follow a specific installation order for everything to work correctly.

First, use the BB Enhanced Patcher/Mod Merger GUI to combine BB Enhanced with BB PC Remaster.

Once the merged BB Enhanced/PC Remaster mod has been created, take the Vanilla+ dvdroot_ps4 folder and copy it into the newly created merged mod folder. Overwrite the existing files when prompted.

Finally, download the optional Vanilla+ PC Remaster Compatibility Patch and copy its contents into the same merged mod folder, once again overwriting when prompted.

That's it! You should now have a fully functional Vanilla+ installation with BB PC Remaster.

Main features

Restored Central Yharnam NPC

Vanilla+ restores a cut NPC interaction in Central Yharnam. He can now be found behind the very first door, next to the ladder lever (see video).

His unused “Give Blood” interaction has been restored, allowing the Hunter to exchange blood for a little “information.” This interaction now also rewards the player with 1 Madman’s Knowledge, providing earlier access to Insight, the Doll, and character leveling.
