Location Scouting Overhaul is built on top of HeyPashi's excellent Location Scouting mod. I had always wanted a mod to keep track of what I've actually scouted, and I was delighted when he published the original. After playing a full campaign with it, I found it incredibly useful and it was certainly a mod I wanted to use.

But I also felt like it was taking me out of the immersion of Battle Brothers--just enough to motivate me to change it. I shared my feedback and code changes with HeyPashi, and while he was very supportive of it, he didn't have time to continue working on the mod and encouraged me to publish it as a separate overhaul mod.

What's Changed?

• []Reduced the darkness and opacity of the scouting overlay so the vanilla world map remains visible. This allows you to keep the overlay constantly on, if desired.[/]

  []Added a soft, feathered edge to the scouting overlay, which greatly reduces its blocky appearance.[/]

  []Greatly reduced the tile "seams" that appear at different zoom levels.[/]

  []Added subtle texture variations to the overlay.[/]

  []Fixed a bug that could incorrectly mark tiles as explored after battles occur throughout the map.[/]

I've always enjoyed contributing back to the Battle Brothers community. Years ago I built bbplanner.xyz with the hope that, by creating something I enjoyed using myself, I could create something the community would enjoy as well. I have the same belief with this mod, and I hope you enjoy using it as much as I do.

Summary

This mod makes it easier for you to find Legendary Locations and Camps without Cheating. If you've ever wandered the whole map looking for the Witch Hut or a Camp from a Tavern Rumor and felt like you were going in circles, this is why:

Battle Brothers clears fog of war at a greater distance than it actually scouts for Locations. A tile can have the Fog of war completely cleared and still was not scouted close enough to reveal its location. The game never tells you this.

This mod has the solution. It tracks every tile and only marks it as fully scouted once you've been close enough to rule out all possible location spawns. Toggle a dark overlay on the world map and you can see exactly where you still need to travel. The gaps are usually obvious once you see them.
