📋 About This Mod
This mod completely overhauls the troop system of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, splitting the single skill tree into seven independent troop classes, each with its own unique recruitment method, quantity cap, and strategic role. It also

[]Before launching the game, ensure that all prerequisite mods are compatible with the current game version, as using outdated mods may cause crashes.[/]
[]If you are upgrading from an older version of ATC, be sure to delete the ATC folder in the C:\ProgramData\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord directory before starting the game to avoid potential crashes.[/]
[]When using the LRM_NavalDLC compatibility patch, it is recommended to arrange the mods in the following order: Harmony - ButterLib - UIExtenderEx - MCM - TW base mod - ATC - LipottyTroops- NavalDLC - LipottyTroops_NavalDLC.[/]
The core problem in Mount & Blade’s troop system is baked in: low‑tier troops barely resist anything, while high‑tier troops steamroll everything. A lord who wins a few fights snowballs his stack into elites; a lord who loses gets stuck shuttling raw recruits—until he’s pushed off the board entirely. For the player it’s even cleaner: a mob of peasants under your personal command becomes a continent‑crushing elite stack in just a few battles.
Realistic Military - Coin & Contracts rewires the underlying logicof how troops exist, grow, and belong to you. It dismantles the vanilla “single unified troop tree” feel and splits forces into separate troop categories, each with distinct acquisition paths, hard constraints, and strategic roles. Your army’s shape starts to reflect your fief power, diplomatic situation, and management decisions—not just how many fights you can grind.
Troop Categories (7 types — each with its own role & limit)
1. Militia Troops
·Rank: 1st - 3rd tier
· Characteristics: Basic militia. Lowest barrier to get, cheap upkeep. Your line filler, not your hammer.
2. Regular Troops
·Rank: 3rd - 4th tier
· Characteristics: Well‑equipped “well‑off commons” archetype: balanced, solid. Harder to recruit locally after you expand into alien‑culture lands.
3. Noble Troops
·Rank: 4th - 5th tier
·Characteristics: High‑quality noble warriors. Excellent kit & impact, but scarce and hard to replace, especially on foreign soil.
4. Elite Troops
·Rank: 6th tier
·Characteristics: The hammer blow. Extremely difficult to obtain.
5. Auxiliary Troops
·Rank: 3rd - 4th tier
·Characteristics: Compensation pool after conquering foreign‑culture settlements: when local culture units aren’t available in enough numbers, auxiliaries fill gaps (they’re not your core, they’re the stopgap) .
6. Mercenaries
Rank: 3rd, 4th tier
Characteristics: Available to hire from taverns early—often your lifeline in the opening act. But keeping a big mercenary tail means heavy extra costs; from v3 onward they serve under contracts.
· Rank: 1st - 3rd tier
· Characteristics: Fights better than levies, but undisciplined. Beyond your control cap they steal, desert, drag morale down, and can even mutiny.
Each category carries independent caps/availability rules—you can’t just “brute‑force elites by playing longer.” Composition becomes a choice, not a timer.
Key Systems
1) Recruitment isn’t easy anymore (v2)
Early on you cannot simply walk into a settlement and bulk‑recruit. You earn the right to raise men by:
-
[]Building relations with local headsmen / lords[/]
[]Accumulating kingdom reputation & influence[/]
[]Whether the headman is your subject heavily affects quotas[/]
2) Dynamic troop-type caps (v2)
Your number of fiefs, fief prosperity, Leadership, and Clan tier feed into per‑category caps rather than one flat “party limit.”
When you breach caps, consequences differ by type:
[]Regular / Noble / Elites:
Every day, all your fiefs lose prosperity/hearths equal to (excess% ÷ 10) – min 1%, max 10%. If the excess exceeds 10% of the cap, there is a 20% daily chance that 30%–50% of the excess troops will desert – low‑tier infantry leave first, high‑tier cavalry last. (v3) [/]
[]Mercenaries:
Daily escalating penalty upkeep: 5n(n+1) denars, where n = number over limit. They also cause trouble in settlements (lowering security and lord relations), and if severely over‑cap, they may trigger a mutiny that forces contract renegotiation. (v3) [/]
[*]Bandits:
Daily chance of n
