The Sauce
Main Features Explained
Diplomatic Memory
All clans remember political events through dynamic and persistent Trust and Grievance. Won/lost wars, raids, settlement captures, fief grants, treaty conduct, shared battle-victories, internal politics and ruler behavior shape all their future decisions.
Grounded Diplomacy
Kingdoms consider diplomatic memory, relations, strategic needs and existing commitments with every decision, forming long-term alliances and rivalries based on shared events.
Cultural Development
Fulfill specific deeds to gain Cultural Development Points. Reaching milestones will unlock a unique culture-specific Monument and bonuses to militia stats, equipment and better access to noble troops. Higher development stages will give you an edge on the battlefield.
Personality Archetypes
Rulers and Clan Leaders have archetypes based on their personality traits. These archetypes influence their motivations and behavior in every decision. A change in leadership - or a well placed assassination - can change the diplomatic course of a kingdom.
Royal Court
Every kingdom maintains a court with skill-based offices: Lord Steward, Chancellor, Marshal, High Constable, Royal Engineer, Spymaster, Master of Provisions and Royal Consort, enabling kingdom-wide effects based on their aptitude.
Active Court Actions
All clans with a certain standing can spend Gold and Influence on many targeted actions. These include construction programs, recruitment drives, fortification work, food relief, noble cultivation, political mediation, public denunciation and more.
Spymasters can conduct political operations, settlement sabotage, and assassinations. Counter-intelligence may discover operations, identify their sponsors or intercept them before completion.
Realm Doctrines
Rulers can call out Doctrines - very strong realm-wide bonuses that last one year and have one additional year of cooldown. Use them wisely!
Feudal Hierarchy
The demesne system adds Crowns, Duchies, and Baronies with recognized holders, claims, de-jure realms and territorial drift. Titles influence political rank, Influence capacity, fief limits, recognition costs and kingdom votes.
Dynastic Wardship
Crown and Duke houses can send their offspring to another noble court through the Chancellor. Wards remain members of their original clan but live at the host’s fief until shortly before coming of age, receiving courtly, martial and culture-specific education while strengthening the bond between both houses.
Influence Economy
Influence is quickly refilled but limited. The capacity increases with more titles and court positions. The idea is to create a natural progression towards more court actions as you climb the latter towards higher nobility.
Diplomatic initiation costs scale with clan support.
War Goals and War Leverage
Wars receive visible objectives such as Border Conquest, Reconquest, Ambition, or Defensive Preservation. Territorial control, battlefield losses, raids, prisoners and objective progress combine into a shared War Leverage result that influences AI focus and peace support.
Succession Crises and Claimant Wars
Long-term ruler discontent can trigger a Loss of Confidence resulting in peaceful abdication or civil war. Claimants and vanilla rebellions can form their own persistent kingdoms.
Recruitment Overhaul
Villages provide only militia, which can be upgraded to veterans. Towns and castles supply regular troops, but noble tro
