As impressive as Baldurs Gate already looks,

I thought the grounds could need some improvements, especially more shading.

1k  textures are the same size as originals, the whole set got even some smaller.

2k contains several normal and specularity maps in higher resolution,

Best Choice is a balanced combination of the two with an eye on performance and visuals;)
