Reading List (more useful books)

The University of Suzail once offered a course in Practical Applications of Magical Theory. The final exam consisted of a week-long survival test in the field. The course was short-lived, however, as were the students.

Adds 23 books (and one badly-tuned lute) that can be held in the off-hand, like a shield. They have no proficiency requirements, and provide a variety of bonuses, effects, and spells. The full list and description is in this article.

I've tried to make everything feel balanced - good enough to use but not game-breaking. Obviously, everyone has a different playstyle and power preference, so ymmv...

Patch 7 updates:

Versions 2. 1 and up are patch 7 optimized. If you are using a patch 6 game, use version 2. 0. 1 in the Old Files.

Which Version Should I Use?

• []Standard Version --Books are not visibly held by characters. They also do not count as shields for game checks.  (Monk abilities like Unarmored Defense will work while holding a book.)

  []"Shield" Version -- Characters visibly hold enormous books like shields, in both inventory view and in-world. The books don't require shield proficiency to equip, but they will trigger shield checks. (Monk abilities like Unarmored Defense will NOT work while holding a book.) Also, the books are absurdly large, that's not something I can fix.

PICK ONLY ONE - they share all UUID's and will not work at the same time.

Where Can You Find Them? 

Books are scattered throughout the game, in chests, as loot, and as rotating vendor stock. If you just want them all at once, there's a full set in the tutorial chest. They can also all be bought right before the final battle.

Compatibility

• []Standard Version -- These are actually rings that look like books and use the off-hand slot. They will not interact with any mods that affect books.

  []"Shield" Version -- These books are actually shields, and will interact with mods that affect shields.
