📋 About This Mod
Study your opponents in battle. Learn to mimic 200+ spells and attacks from enemy creatures and spirits.
Occultists study magic not from dusty tomes trapping spells with pompous names, but from their prey in the heat of battle.
A homebrew class designed specifically for BG3.
Cast enemy spells by transforming into the creature you learned them from. 200+ spells are supported, though most are more "attacks" than "spells", leading to a playstyle that feels like a mix of a glass cannon Battlemaster Fighter and a utility caster. To reach your potential you must allow your enemies to fight back, so that you can study their abilities in action.
Occultist (Blue Mage)
Hit Dice: 1d8 per Occultist level
Hit Points at 1st Level: 8 + your Constitution modifier
Hit Points at Higher Levels: 1d8 (or 5) + your Constitution modifier per Occultist level after 1st
Proficiencies
Armor: Light armor
Weapons: Clubs, Daggers, Javelins, Quarterstaffs, Scimitars, Shortbows, Shortswords, Sickles, Spears
Saving Throws: Constitution, Intelligence
Skills: Choose two from Animal Handling, Arcana, Insight, Investigation, Medicine, Nature, Perception, and Survival
Occultist stats and proficiencies are something of a midpoint between Wizards and Rangers, reflecting them studying spells and natural magic mainly in the wild and in combat. They have access to Wizard and Ranger dialogue lines.
While levels 13-20 are implemented for the class itself, the game does not contain higher level enemies and there are therefore no higher level mimicries.
Mimicry
You can learn mimicries, which are spells that imitate creature abilities and are cast using Mimicry points.
Mimicries can be learned from many non-humanoid, non-construct creatures that use unarmed attacks or innate magic.
Casting a mimicry involves briefly taking the form of the creature you learned it from. Taking the form of some creatures provides additional benefits.
Using a mimicry that requires concentration will maintain the creature form until concentration is broken.
Using any spell or action not compatible with the current form will break concentration.
While maintaining a form through concentration, mimicries compatible with the same form do not cost Mimicry points or spell slots to cast.
[]Study Ability. As a reaction, you can attempt to learn a mimicry imitating an ability used by an enemy that you can see and are in combat with. To successfully learn a mimicry
