Less Empty Vases

Made for Patch 8 - Hotfix 31, and the BG3 July Modathon 2025!

Hey! Listen! 🧚‍♂️ Are you like me, and open every vase you see in this game, despite the fact you know you'll find nothing? Do you wish that, just this once, the devs would throw you a bone, and you'll find a bone at the bottom of one of them? Did a childhood of playing Zelda games teach you to expect treasure to pop out of terracotta pots when you smashed them, and you can't seem to let go of that in BG3?

Well, then, this might be the mod for you!

This mod adds random loot to the vases in the game. Not all vases will have something, but they will sometimes, so opening those things will no longer be an exercise in futility.

How It Works:

It turns out that while the vases in the game are listed as containers, the only ones that actually have treasure tables are ones related to Shar, for some reason. So, while the game will let you open all the vases like containers, the Shar ones are the only ones that will ever have something in them.

This mod doesn't add treasure tables to the vases, but uses a script to add random loot to a vase the first time you open it, which should hopefully minimize conflicts with mods that edit the vases themselves.

Only the vases without treasure tables are affected by the script; the Shar vases already have a chance of having stuff in them, so I didn't add anything to them.

A note:

Some of the loot you can find in the vases is extremely silly. If you find a barrel in a vase, don't worry about how it got in there, or how you got it out. I won't be changing this behavior, so enjoy your new free barrel!

Compatibility:

This mod doesn't override any existing game resources, so conflicts should be minimal. But of course, let me know if you have any issues!

Installation:

This mod should be safe to install and uninstall mid-playthrough. Install via BG3 Mod Manager. Uninstall by deactivating the mod in your mod manager, or removing it from your Mods folder completely.
