What even is this?

Deep in the Early Access game files lies a quest so old that the voice lines are still in the past tense. A quest involving a hermit crab that you encounter on the beach. A hermit crab that you can just .. pick up and eat??

(But if you can suppress your seafood cravings, there just might be a reward waiting for you.)

This quest is kind of ridiculous, but I'm posting it for anyone who wishes to join in on the insanity. 🤪

Slapping a "BETA" sticker on this one for few reasons:

• []The quest, as scripted in the EA files, can be tricky to complete. Suggestions to balance it more are welcome -- or maybe I should leave it as (FAFO, amirite??) 🤪🤪

  []Would like feedback on how intuitive this quest is, and how it can be improved (some testers have reported that it isn't really obvious what you're meant to actually do with this crab)

  []I'm sure there are bugs and edge cases I haven't caught yet

  Fun fact: cinematics for this weren't baked at all, so I had the pleasure of animating the player character's unhinged behavior. What fun!

  Quest details

  ⚠️ This section contains spoilers ⚠️

  If you remove the crab from the beach, you'll find that its Wet status starts counting down. Your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to find another home for the crab before it suffocates and dies.

  Keeping the crab alive

  • []You'll learn a bit more from the crab if you can Speak With Animals.

    []Your hermit crab will suffocate if isn't kept in a moist environment.

    []Dropping the crab into a wet surface resets its Wet status.

    How to complete this quest

    • []Take the crab with you, keep it alive, and drop it in the Hag swamp.

      []You can also drop the crab in some puddle and come back for it later.

    • Alternatively: Talk to the crab, but decide to leave it on the beach. Go to the swamp without it and look for the crab there.

    Either way, if the crab lives to find a new home in the swamp, it'll reward you with The Ring of Crabsight.
