Auntie Ethel Always Surrenders

In the vanilla game, during the fight with Auntie Ethel in Act 1, she will surrender if her HP drops below 20%. She begs for her life and offers the player a reward in return. However, this only occurs if she receives a turn while her HP is below that threshold. If she is killed before getting a turn, the player misses the interaction entirely. See here for more info (spoilers).

This mod makes sure that she always surrenders before dying. You can then choose to either take her deal, or kill her.

Even if you don’t care about whatever treato the lotions and potions lady has for you, it’s a nice extra dialogue scene that’s usually hard to get.

The Details

• []The vanilla conditions are still intact. If Ethel's HP drops below 20% and she get's a turn in combat, she will surrender.[/]

  []If her health drops to 1, she will immediately surrender. This will happen even if it isn't her turn in combat.[/]

  []Her health will be locked at 1 until after she has talked with the party. This is to prevent her from being accidentality killed.[/]

This interaction can only take place in the Overgrown Tunnel. If her health drops to 0 while she is in the Teahouse, she will die (as in vanilla).

Alternate Version - Ethel always surrenders to the party leader

• []Ethel will surrender to the party leader (avatar) instead of the closest party member.[/]

  []If the party leader is unavailable (dead, silenced, etc), she will surrender to the closest party member instead.[/]

Notes:

After the confrontation with Ethel has been resolved, Mayrina will talk to you (if she is alive). Mayrina will talk to whoever is closest. If the party leader was speaking with Ethel, when the next conversation with Mayrina begins it will switch to the closest character.

I don't think it's a big deal, but it's worth mentioning. It may be difficult (and possibly not worth the effort) to force Mayrina to also speak to the party leader.
