Ryoko Kui Portraits Pack

I'm a big fan of Baldur's Gate since the release of the first game in 1998. Back then, I spent a next to infinite amount of time on the demo, then on the game when my uncle gave it to me. Baldur's Gate 2 was a dream come true (yet, the first is the one I'm the most nostalgic about), I was so happy when the enhanced editions were released. I've been replaying the games almost once a year since then. I also deeply love Baldur's Gate 3, that manages to be it's own thing while still being somewhat of a true following to some parts of the lore and story.

I'm also a very big fan of manga, and of the very specific kind of fantasy that was born in Japan from D&D and Computer RPGs. One of my favorite manga these recent years is Dungeon Meshi / Delicious in Dungeon (Gloutons & Dragons here in France) by author Ryoko Kui. I just love her style, logic world and great characterization. When I discovered she had posted online her own take on the original two Baldur's Gate characters, I fell in love with it. I cut it, upscaled it, etc, and added these in my game. My last playthroughs have been done with these, and I'm far from getting over it.

Yet, She produced only four potential MC character portraits (two warriors, two mages) for human characters, and that's all. I craved for more diversity... until I discovered just yesterday she drawn many more portraits in artbooks named Daydream Hour. In the middle of my current playthrough, I stopped everything to add a few portraits to the game (and also using one or two for original characters she didn't do, like Yeslick that was in my team at the moment).

And then I thought to myself I should share it with the world.

Obviously, I'm not the author of the art. It belongs to author Ryoko Kui only, and I publish it here as a tribute to her work and her love for the Baldur's Gate and classic fantasy characters. I just did the photoshop work of cutting, upscaling, correcting, and adding a parchment background. I did it for my own use, and I share it for people that like to play with the same portraits I use and want more choices for their MCs.

You need to add the files to the "portraits" directory of the game. It should work with Baldur's Gate I & II Enhanced Edition, I use it with Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Trilogy. It might work with the original games I suppose, but you probably need to create the medium and small variations of the portraits for it to work I suppose. On my computer, the folder is in my documents.

For Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition it should be in: %UserProfile%\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\portraits

For Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition it should be in: %UserProfile%\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition\portraits

For Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Trilogy it should be in: %UserProfile%\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition Trilogy\portraits
