Way of the Jungle - Monk Subclass

You draw inspiration from the beasts of the wild to strike the enemy with all the beauty and brutality of nature.

My first ever mod! I wanted to create a monk that fights with distinct stances, opening up a ton of options in combat. The stances and abilities are heavily inspired by the Chinese martial art, Hung Ga.

Hailing from the remote jungle of Chult, monks of the Way of the Jungle do not feel the need to cloister themselves away from the world to hone their skills. No, this monastic order believes that the way to harness the immense power of Ki is to not seek refuge in artificially imposed order but in living in harmony with the ebb and flow of nature. Way of the Jungle monks live among local communities, protecting them from colonisers and hunters searching for profit and glory from the land and its people. While they do not go looking for opportunities to fight, these monks are more than willing to match the ferocity of the savage beasts around them if needed.

Looking to the wild animals they dwell among, Way of the Jungle monks style of fighting draws on the strength, grace, power and courage of jungle beasts, leaving all that behold enchanted or annihilated - depending on their vantage point, of course.

Subclass Features

Level 3

You gain access to the crane and tiger stances, focused on defence and attack respectively. Switch stances using a bonus action, or using the special Flurry Of Blows variants.

Level 6

You unlock powerful special moves for each stance. They exchange a large number of resources for powerful effects and a stance change.

• []Leopard Pouncing Strike: Sprint over a distance before pouncing onto your prey with a flying strike, Dazing them.[/]

  []Leopard Hunting Sweep: Sweep all enemies near you, knocking them Prone.[/]

  Level 9

  The potency of your stances improves, granting additional benefits as well as piercing and slashing effects while in the crane and tiger stances respectively. You also gain an ability that rewards switching stances.
