📋 About This Mod

Hey there! The Way of the Hurricane comes from LaserLlama, and gives Monks the ability to twirl around halberds, glaives and other heavy weapons as Monk weapons. That means they can work with Dexterity, trigger bonus unarmed strikes, and so on. Cleave your way through the battlefield and throw enemies aside with the weight of your weapons!

Most of the mod's features should work with any melee weapon that's classified as "Heavy" internally, although Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't say what weapons are so by default. The level 3 features should tell you what base-game weapon types count, though. If you're using other mods that add new things triggered by "Monk weapon attacks", you might run into some oddities.

There have been other similar mods before. If you're wondering what's different, it's mainly just that this mod uses the base-2014 Monk version as its basis rather than being designed around LL's Alternate Monk. Still, other than the shared tabletop source material, this mod was made from the ground-up.

If you do like this or any of my other mods I make, I have a tip jar set up here:

Features by level

  • []Level 3:

[]You are proficient with all base-game heavy melee weapons: Glaives, Greataxes, Greatswords, Halberds, Mauls and Pikes. You treat heavy melee weapons as Monk weapons.[/]

[]While wielding a heavy melee weapon, you have advantage against falling Prone or being Restrained or Grappled.[/]

[]You may whirl a heavy melee weapon around, forcing all creatures within 3m of you to make a Dexterity save. On failure, they take damage equal to your Martial Arts die + the higher of your Strength or Dexterity modifiers. (Note this isn't considered a weapon attack, and so doesn't stack with Extra Attack.)[/]

[/]

  • []Level 6: When a creature you can see hits you with an attack while you're wielding a heavy melee weapon, you can use your reaction to make a counterattack. If this attack hits, the creature's movement speed is reduced to 0 until the start of your next turn.[/]

  • []Level 11:

[]When you whirl your heavy weapon around, creatures now take half damage instead of none if they succeed on their saving throw.[/]

[]When you hit a creature with an attack with a heavy melee weapon, you can force it to make a Strength saving throw to avoid either being knocked Prone or to avoid being flung a distance equal to 1. 5m times your Wisdom modifier (minimum distance of 1. 5m). You can use this feature for free a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier; after that, it costs a Ki Point.[/]

[/]

[*]Level 17: As an action, you can select up to 5 creatures within 18m of you whilst wielding a heavy melee weapon. You become a blur of steel: you

  • Small but active community (10 endorsements, 9.8k downloads).

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure to check your mod manager for load order—place this after other class mods to avoid conflicts.
  • Test the subclass in a new playthrough to see if the cleave and knockback animations work as expected.
  • If you're using other Monk mods, verify they don't overwrite the same weapon proficiency lists.
