VT Audit

Overview

VT Audit is a small GUI tool for finding loose Virtual Textures (VTs) in .pak files.

VTs are a more efficient alternative to regular textures, but BG3 has a VT limit. If that limit is exceeded, textures can turn black. SE can be used to register multiple textures in a single slot, but many mods don't use that.

Therefore, there is a vanilla limit of ~48 mods that load loose VTs at once.

With VT Audit, you can drop in one or more .pak files, or a folder containing .pak files, and it will scan for .gts files (for VTs), check whether they are registered in VirtualTextures.json with SE, and show which files/mods may count toward the virtual texture limit.

Alternatively, you can also check VTs in-game with VT Checker!

(you'll need to add all mods you want to scan added to your load order, but this has the bonus of being able to parse any mods)

You can also generate SE merge patches with VT SMG!
