i very rarely see middle eastern culture done right in media, especially in popular franchises. it's always bothered me when the only representation of 'arab-leaning' fictional lands and people focus on the more negative stereotypes. so, let's introduce the beauty of the SWANA and Middle Eastern regions into Faerûn!

this mod heavily references 'The Henna Archives', a book by Azra Khamissa. it's a step-by-step guide to traditional and modern henna designs and also includes personal stories and information about the art form. if you are interested in learning more about henna, i highly recommend purchasing the book or visiting the author's instagram page (‎عذراء‎ (@dr.azra)).

i came across this book during my weekly visit to my local library, which is full of fantastic reference books (like weapons and armor, omg, i am so excited to start working on those). i remember being a child, having henna done on both my hands, and my mother feeding me scraps from a rotisserie chicken in my grandfather's apartment in Syria. to me, henna is about connections and family. i hope it can mean something to you, too.

these designs may not look the henna you might be used to (the more intricate designs). these are minimal, traditional designs, meant to be a subtle addition to your character's appearance. i do intend on doing the more elaborate designs, but they will take time as i prefer to hand draw everything.
