📋 About This Mod

Hello there! This is another Barbarian spellcaster homebrew, this time adapted from a subclass by Benjamin Huffman. But like the last, there are some quirks to be aware of.

Sylvan Wardens have an alternate form of Rage called 'Quietude': while in this calmer state of mind, they lose out on Barbarian's traditional melee buffs and resistances in favour of a few casting buffs – including, for instance, being able to cast spells at all. As they level up they can more freely switch between states.

Mix between melee might and druidic magic as you strike down those who would despoil nature. Just keep an eye on your enemy and your Rage Charges so you can be sure to enter battle in the appropriate form. Mystra's Spells support is baked in, while a 5e Spells add-on is up as an optional download for a few technical reasons. Neither mod is necessary, however, albeit you may find yourself a little lacking in spell choice if just using vanilla.

If you do like this or any of my other mods, I have a tip jar set up here:

Features by level

  • []Level 3:

[]Spellcasting! You gain spell slots and spells at the same rate as an Eldritch Knight, and have your pick of Transmutation and Conjuration spells from the Druid spell list. Your casting stat is Wisdom.[/]

[]At levels 3, 8, 14 and 20, you may learn a spell of any school from the Druid spell list.

  • []You have an alternate form of Rage called 'Quietude'. Barbarian features that apply "while Raging" work in this state, but the default boosts and limitations of Rage – increased melee and thrown damage, physical resistance, etc – do not. Instead:

[]Your druid spells deal bonus damage equal to your usual Rage Damage bonus.[/]

[]You have resistance against damage from spells.[/]

[]You have advantage on Concentration saves to maintain spells.[/]

[]But beware! If your turn ends without you having cast a spell and without you concentrating on one, Quietude will end.[/]

[/]

  • []Level 6:

[]You can use your bonus action to switch between Rage and Quietude without consuming a Rage Charge. This does not extend their duration: for instance, if you have 4 turns left of Rage and switch to Quietude, you now have 4 turns left of Quietude.[/]

[/]

[]Level 10:

[]Once per Short Rest when you initially enter a Rage or Quietude, you can activate Warden's Respite. You extend your current Rage/Quietude resistances to allies within 3m of you for 10 turns. (That's Bludgeoning, Piercing and Slashing damage if you're in a Rage, and spell resistance if you're in a Quietude. Your aura will update if you switch between states.)

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solid download count (41k) shows real interest in the concept.
  • Unique hybrid playstyle—rage and spellcasting in one class is a fresh take.
  • Lightweight mod with no listed dependencies, so it's easy to slot into a load order.

⚠️ Cons

🎯 Is This For You?

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since this is a class mod, make sure to check your game's mod manager for any load order requirements—place it after other class mods to avoid conflicts.
  • If you're using a mod manager, preview the class in-game to see how the rage/serenity mechanic works before committing to a build.
  • Given the low endorsement count, test the mod in a separate save to ensure it doesn't break your main playthrough.
