The Elder Band

The greatest gift The Absolute ever bestowed upon the Zhentarim, close proximity to the heirlooms of Her most faithful. Out of the shadows and far from headquarters, a halfling agent seeks to liquidate some particularly hot merchandise. Little did they know, great power lay dormant within its seemingly mundane shell, a power which can only be activated by one of The Absolute's choosing.

The elder band allows you to now have two party members with "awakened" (illithid powers cost bonus actions) so long as the one wearing the ring is branded by the absolute. The feature is toggleable, so you can tactfully switch between actions or bonus actions. Also, once per long rest, you can use an ability which resets all of your short rest cooldowns. This synergizes well with heavy illithid builds, like thief rogue, and allows Laezel to fulfill her dreams of finally getting lobotomized by the zaithisk.

Buy (or otherwise acquire) the ring from the zhentarim merchant inside the repurposed temple of selune (goblin camp, near priestess room) Attacking the goblins at all will cause them to flee, so if you missed them in act 1 you should still be able to buy it at moonrise towers from the same merchant.

It shouldn't be an issue, but if you use the ring while you also have awakened, and remove the ring while you have toggled illithid powers to actions, they will remain like that until you put the ring back on and toggle back to bonus actions. There's not really a need to use the ring if you already have awakened, but due to the toggle it's not completely useless.
