Spells Reworked - Protection from Energy

Mod Description

Protection from Energy might be one of the worst spells in the game. It grants Resistance to only ONE damage type at the cost of a Level 3 Spell Slot, and it requires concentration.

The protection it offers is far worse than Warding Bond, which grants Resistance to ALL damage types (magical and physical), a +1 bonus to Armour Class and Saving Throws, only costs a Level 2 Spell Slot, and doesn’t require concentration.

Alternatively, you could just drink an Elixir of Resistance, which requires no spell slot and no concentration.

This mod overhauls Protection from Energy in an attempt to make it more universally useful, both defensively and offensively (check out the video):

📜 All adjustments to spells and conditions are properly reflected in the new descriptions and tooltips.

⬆️ Upcasting added: All Spells are now usable with spell slots up to 9th level.

Protection from Energy

- now costs a BonusAction instead of an Action

- no longer requires concentration

- lasts until long rest

- is now limited to 1 target (unique) and can't be stacked with other variants or from other sources - only 1 version can be active at all times

- range increased from 1,5m to 9m

- NEW: added a new variant --> Protection from Energy: Radiant

- NEW: added upcasting benefits

- Lesser Protection from Energy --> Level 3 + Level 4 Spell Slot = grant Resistance to a chosen damage type

NEW: Lesser Protection will now apply a visible shield (VFX only) for 1 turn on apply and when damaged of the matching type

- Greater Protection from Energy --> Level 5 + Level 6 Spell Slot = grant Immunity to a chosen damage type
