📋 About This Mod

Matches the ruleset outlined in DND 5R rules, in the 2024 Player's Handbook:

All Smites:

- Tooltips now all clarify that spell slots are only consumed if you hit

- Added upcast levels beyond 6

- Smoothed out behavior with damage riders

- Prevented Honor Mode from overriding some of the animations

- DND 5R rules specify all Smites can be used with a melee weapon or unarmed only, however I've left them as they are in the base gameDivine Smite:

- Damage now scales past 4th level with upcasting [+1d8 Radiant per spell level]

- Streamlined some messy code so all levels now behave the same

- All Divine Smite interrupts now default to Ask + Enabled

Optional patch file to revert the below changes:

- Divine Smite is now a level 1 Evocation spell, per DND 5R rules

- Added bonus action cost, per DND 5R rules

- Divine Smite can no longer be used on the same attack as other Smites (even if you have multiple bonus actions)Searing Smite:

- Concentration removed

- Damage over time now also scales with upcasting [+1d6 Fire per spell level]Thunderous Smite:

- Damage now scales with upcasting [+1d6 Thunder per spell level]Wrathful Smite:

- Concentration removed

- Spell school changed to Necromancy

- Damage type changed to Necrotic

- Fear duration extended to 10 turns, target makes a Wisdom saving throw at the end of each turn

- Damage now scales with upcasting [+1d6 Necrotic per spell level]Branding Smite:

- Name changed to Shining Smite

- Spell school changed to Transmutation

- Now also provides advantage on attack rolls against the target

- Fixed tooltip incorrectly saying the spell requires a Constitution saving throw

- Fixed 4th level upcast not showing the correct damage number in the tooltipBlinding Smite:

- Concentration removed

- Saving throw on hit removed

- Damage now scales with upcasting [+1d8 Radiant per spell level]Staggering Smite:

- Concentration removed

- Spell school changed to Enchantment

- Effect changed to Stunned

- Damage now scales with upcasting [+1d6 Psychic per spell level]Banishing Smite:

- Spell school changed to Conjuration

- Banish now requires a Charisma saving throw

- Banished duration extended to 10 turns

- DND 5R rules don't specify that damage scales with upcasting, in my opinion this is an oversight due to Paladins not getting spell slots past 5th level, so I've added it anyway [+1d10 Force per spell level]Other Changes:

- Zariel Tiefling:

- Searing Smite: inherits changes

- Branding Smite: inherits changes & fixes bug (was n

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Recent update (Nov 2025) shows active maintenance.
  • Decent endorsement count (123) for a niche spell mod.
  • Fills a gap by adding upcast scaling, a common request.

⚠️ Cons

  • Only affects Smite spells, so limited scope.
  • No detailed description, so unclear what 'other changes' entail.
  • May conflict with other spell overhaul mods.
🎯 Is This For You?
For D&D 5e players who want their Smite spells to scale better at higher levels. If you're a paladin or cleric player who feels smites fall off, this is for you. Skip if you want broader spell changes or don't use smites.
