To get started with your journey, find the wicked text belonging to the Cult of Vecna:

Compendium Maleficarum

An ancient hand-written tome of spells, doctrines, and secrets crafted entirely from bone (even the pages) and penned in blood. It speaks of dark rites able to unseal long lost power that once belonged to the Immortal Lich-King Vecna.

Lore Notes:

Vecna was obsessed with secrets, and as such he encouraged his followers to seek out great secrets at any cost. Reading the Compendium itself often inflicted pain on the readers, and welcoming that pain in the quest of secrets was encouraged in the cult. Throughout the game, your process of acquiring and upgrading the robe involves this quest of probing for great secrets and requires through risk and sacrifice on your part to progress.

The book’s text hints at the location of the first tier of the robe somewhere in Act 2.

Usage: Attempting to read it will force a Wisdom saving throw on the player. FAIL it to acquire a spell to extract a special ingredient for upgrading the robe. If you SUCCEED, you’re cursed and can attempt to read the book again after a long rest.
