Rebalance - Gear

Overview

A large amount of the weapons, armor and accessories you find in BG3 are of little use. Either they are too weak, too situational or just acquired too late for their intended purpose. This mod overhauls a large amount of items to be more generally useful and appealing - without changing their identity too much. This mod also does not add any new items to the game. Gaps in gear progression will be filled with a seperate mod.

The mod focuses heavily on Act 1 items, since they need the most work, but also because they lay the groundwork for builds and combos later in the game. Plus, these items will actually be acquired by most players, as only 52% of players make it to Act 2 and only 40% make it to Act 3.

Over-arcing changes

• []Some items rarity was changed to better fit their power level[/]

  []All "of the Absolute" items no longer require the brand to function, the brand is now purely for dialog/story purposes[/]

  []Every new or changed passive has a note whether it works in Wild Shape or not - you must hover over the passive effect to see this note[/]

  Important acquisition changes:

  • []Broodmother's Revenge - After redeeming Khaga from the Shadow Druids and resolving the Grove conflict (killed the goblin leaders or defended the grove on the attack) speaking to Khaga will cause her to hand you the necklace. No more Khaga murder required. She will still drop it however.[/]

    []Hat of Fire Acuity - Now rewarded alongside the Shapeshifter's Boon Ring when helping the Strange Ox enter the Lower City, no more Phasm murder required.[/]

    []The two items Gemless Ring and Ringless Gem had their root templates fixed and now combine into the Restored Ring of Luck - the original result had an invalid root template too, meaning you never got the actual "Magical Ring", but even if you did it had no effects[/]

    []Cloth Armour was renamed to Armour of Patience with new effects and is now available in the gnoll-sieged cave in Act 1 with Reason's Grasp[/]

    Weapons

    General changes

    []Many weapons have had their icons reworked, to more easily distinguish them from generic +1 weapons or other weapons (there is eight shortswords in the base game sharing the same icon, for example)[/]

    []Many weapons that did not feature any basic enchantment now feature +1 Weapon Enchantment[/]
