📋 About This Mod

Randomizes each Disguise Self illusion's face, hair style, hair and eye color, skin tone, and beard per cast using race-appropriate palettes and subrace identity.

Randomized Disguise Self gives Baldur's Gate 3's Disguise Self spell real visual variety.

Vanilla Disguise Self always produces the same fixed illusion for each race, body, and gender option. This mod rerolls the illusion's individual features — face, hair, hair color, eye color, skin tone, and (where the option supports them) beard, piercings, horns, Dragonborn features, makeup, and tattoos — every time you cast. Don't like the look you got? Cast the same disguise again to reroll it.

The mod uses vanilla game assets only and never touches your real character's appearance.

## Requirements

- Baldur's Gate 3 on PC

- Norbyte's BG3 Script Extender: https://github.com/Norbyte/bg3se

This mod relies on Script Extender Lua to roll and apply a disguise at cast time. It is not a static-only toolkit mod.

## Installation

1. Install BG3 Script Extender.

2. Download `RandomizedDisguiseSelf.pak`.

3. Place `RandomizedDisguiseSelf.pak` in your Baldur's Gate 3 Mods folder:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods

4. Enable the mod in BG3 Mod Manager or another BG3 mod manager.

5. Save/export your load order.

6. Launch the game and cast Disguise Self.

Do not install the Script Extender DLL from this mod. Script Extender is a separate dependency and must be installed separately.

## What It Does

When you cast a Disguise Self option, the mod rolls a fresh set of appearance features and applies them to that disguise's illusion before it is built. The disguise keeps the race, gender, and body type you chose — only the look within that choice is randomized.

What gets randomized each cast:

- Head / face and hair style from a large, body-fitted pool for that race and body.

- Hair color, eye color, and skin tone.

- Beard on races that support it (female beards are extremely rare).

- Piercings — a whole coordinated set (matched lobes plus brow, helix, septum, etc., depending on the set), applied at once just like character creation. Dragonborn get their own facial-piercing variants.

- Horns, Dragonborn features, makeup, and tattoos for the options that support them.

Two touches keep results believable:

- Race-appropriate palettes. Skin and eye colors are locked to what character creation allows for a rolled subrace, so you won't get a blue-skinned human. The disguise also identifies as that subrace (for example, an examined Dwarf disguise may read as Duergar).

- Natural hair bias. Every race shares the same character-creation hair palette, which includes vivid dye colors. Hair rolls are weighted toward natural shades, so bright pink, blue, or green hair is possible but rare.
