📋 About This Mod
Your essence burns with your Patron's might. The Pact of the Heart is a new Warlock Pact – in the vein of Blade, Chain, and Tome – that allows you to sacrifice your current hitpoints to either gain temporary HP or deal additional damage with your spells. Alongside it comes a few new Invocations to support this higher-risk playstyle, including an unarmoured defense, the ability to turn ranged Warlock cantrips into melee ones, and a whole lot of stuff building on your Pact temp HP. This is all based on some homebrew by somanyrobots; feel free to check them out.
I can't put in feature prerequisites, so you can technically pick up the invocations that rely on Pact of the Heart temporary HP on any Pact. They will, of course, be entirely useless to you, so it's generally not the optimum play. I've put in a little tooltip warning on any Invocation that relies on earlier Pact features. Since most Pact-specific invocations either got generalised or merged into the Pact itself, I followed suit enough to make the Smouldering Flame invocation something you just get by default. (I went back-and-forth on what features exactly to bake into the Pact.)
if you like any of my mods and want to show some extra support, I've set up a tip jar here:
Compatibility notes: This file edits the description for Deepened Pact (internally 'ThirstingBlade_Check'). By default, this is a blank feature Warlocks get that pops up in the level-up screen but doesn't actually do anything; instead, other things check its existence to see if you're Warlock level 5 or above. This should be relatively harmless, but if you have any other mods that edit it and issues arise, you can just load them after this; this mod should still function fine.
Pact details
When you cast a levelled spell, you can sacrifice your life force to directly channel your patron's power. This lets you do one or both of the following:
-
[]You can sacrifice hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + the spell's level. You then gain twice as many temporary hit points in return.[/]
[]If targeting enemies with your spell, you can take Force damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus; this damage bypasses any resistance or immunity you might have. One target of your choice then takes twice as much in Force damage.[/]
The option to gain temporary hit points triggers just before the spell takes effect, while the Force damage applies after you've hit and initially rolled for damage. The Temp HP is divided into two "reactions" (no actual reaction cost): one that triggers when you don't have any temp HP and cast a spell, and one that triggers when yo
