Not sure which patch caused it, but Nere is a pushover now. Turns out it's because he's set up to have 6 spell slots but only receives 2 due to passives no longer stacking.
I reported the issue to Larian but got an obtuse reply that made it obvious the devs won't even hear about it... so here's my fix.
This mod patches the stat blocks of characters that try and fail to add spell slots via passives to give the correct amount of slots.
There are several such characters, but most appear to be unused. Nere and Tahan are the only two I'm sure appear in the finished game.
Requires Script Extender.
Load order doesn't matter.
Can be uninstalled at any time.
