Key handlers

Baldur's Gate 3 has the option to highlight items by pressing a key. The impractical thing is that you have to hold the button to show the highlights without an option to toggle it on or off.

Two tools to keep your "Highlight Items" button pressed while playing Baldur's Gate 3. Though there is no optimal and clean solution, one of these tools could possibly fit your needs.

Installation

• []First download and install AutoHotkey from their site or from the Microsoft Store.

  []Download the archive. ;)

  []Just copy one of the scripts of your choice from the archive into a folder you like. I suggest to try KeyHandler\scripts\key_presser.wiz.ahk first.

  []Double click on the script key_presser.wiz.ahk.

Notes

• []On first run you will be asked for a key you want to use (if you use a .wiz.ahk script). After selection and confirmation a configuration file will be created next to the script with the same base name.

  []After confirmation a new tray icon 🔎 should be found in your tray (eventually expand the hidden section). Hover your mouse over it, press your configured key, ...

  General

  • []Made primarily for Baldur's Gate 3 to keep on highlighting items. But as it does not lock to a window it could be used for other things, too.

    []Better to assign an alternate key (I used an F-Key) for that, though both tools work with `Alt`. But you will not be able to `` to another window if you use the `Alt` key.

    []Tray icons: 🔎 if key handling is disabled, ⭐ if handling for a key is activated.

    []Try the other scripts, compile them, rename and/or modify the scripts as you like.
